Flight Of The Conchords Are Going Back On Tour And Have New Music To Play

Flight Of The Conchords are officially back, announcing an extensive North American tour and promising that they do indeed have new music.

The Kiwi pairing of Jemaine Clement and Brett McKenzie were already announced on the lineup for Newport Folk Festival but now they have dropped a further 28 dates starting in Cleveland in June and ending in Los Angeles in July.

“I’m thrilled to get back on the road with over half the original band,” McKenzie said in a statement (via Billboard).

Even though they haven’t announced any Australian dates yet there is a silver lining. On the press release for the tour announce it says, “Jemaine and Bret have new material, which they’ll be showcasing on the road this summer.”

The pair haven’t released anything since 2009’s I Told You I Was Freaky so this is very welcome news. They also haven’t toured since 2014 so it looks like the wheels are well and truly back in motion for the Flight Of The Conchords camp.

We don’t want to be greedy but on top of new music and a tour it would also be really great to have a another series of the television show. The last season aired in 2009.

Unfortunately this tour announcement is bad news for those that were hoping they might be on the Splendour In The Grass lineup. The 22nd to 24th July Splendour dates overlap with this tour making it completely impossible for them to make the trip down-under.
