The Flo Rida – Fat As Butter saga has come to an end this week with a court ordering the international rap star and his management to pay festival organisers more than $400,000 for his highly publicised no-show at the Fat As Butter festival last October.
The Sydney Morning Herald has posted today that promoter Mothership Music will recoup their upfront payment for the act of $55,000, as well as $7000 in wasted airfares. The settlement will also include $380,400 in damages to the brand and $37,745 in legal fees. The incident caused a massive uproar against the festival from punters, and the festival was forced to reduce ticket prices to $99 for this year’s event.
The hearing took place last week, and once again, Flo Rida was nowhere to be seen, nor his management. Their absence didn’t exactly tip the scales in their favour. Judge Judith Gibson has ruled against them, stating, “The no-show by Flo Rida damaged the trading reputation of the plaintiff, impacting its ability to stage future events, attract patrons and compete with rivals in the music event industry”.
Flo aka Tramar Dillard, who was served via Facebook after avoiding organisers, left thousands of fans hanging at the main stage of the event, having given hardly any notice to promoters, Mothership, that he would not be performing. With tickets being $110 a pop, you can imagine the disappointment experienced by fans.
The clusterf*** has seen the festival steer clear of the hip hop scene, with acts such as Good Charlotte and Yellowcard set to appear at this year’s instalment. You can catch an interview Feeds held with promoters below.
