Freshly announced Splendour In The Grass 2015 bill-topper Florence Welch is aiming for a speedy recovery before she hits the stage at Byron Bay with her band Florence + The Machine this July, after the indie songstress broke her foot during a performance at Coachella .
Posting a picture of her X-ray on Facebook today, Welch explained to her fans that she sustained the war wound when jumping off the Indio stage at the weekend.
“I’m so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage”, she said.
“Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back. I’m so sorry, I’m pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows.”
“I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I’m going to try and make it super special for you.”
In the below video, you can see Welch leap from the stage at around the 57 minute mark.
It means we can expect a more understated performance from Florence when she returns to Coachella this coming weekend. But there’s good news for Aussie fans, with the songstress expecting to be healed in time for Glastonbury in June, meaning she should be right as rain for Splendour in July.
“By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet,” Florence continued. “[New album How Big How Blue How Beautiful] was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this.”
That’s the spirit, Florence. Get well soon!
