It’s a sad day for the trap world, with influential duo Flosstradamus announcing that they are splitting, with one half of the pair, Josh Young (AKA J2K), breaking the news in a “sombre” message to fans.
In a video posted to Instagram today, Young says, “It is after a lot of soul-searching that I have decided to leave Flosstradamus and focus full-time on my solo project.
“I came to this decision at the end of summer, but due to circumstances outside of my control, I wasn’t able to make this announcement until after the Flosstradamus tour ended.”
Young goes on to thank his former bandmate Curt Cameruci (AKA Autobot), as well as the pair’s management and crew. He also promises there’s “lots of new music” to come in 2017.
Flosstradamus are scheduled to perform as part of Australia’s FOMO Festival in 2017, having last toured here earlier this year. In a statement to Music Feeds, FOMO Festival confirms the duo are still set to play, and will be performing within a “special Australian version of the Flosstradamus HI-DEF YOUTH Bunker”.
At the time of writing, the Flosstradamus website lists the FOMO Festival shows as the pair’s final tour dates.
During their time as a duo, Flosstradamus worked with the likes of Kid Sister (Young’s sister), Diplo, Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J, The Cool Kids and A-Trak. The pair have released a long list of EPs, mixtapes, singles and remixes over the years, and tributes for the duo are already pouring in.

UPDATE 21/12/16 11:30am AEDT: In a statement posted to Facebook, Curt Cameruci says:
“The reports of Flosstradamus’s death have been greatly exaggerated. A movement does not stop when one of its founding fathers goes abroad – it only gets bigger! Flosstradamus will continue and I am excited to carry the torch. Josh will always be a part of the #HDYNATION and we wish him the best on his future endeavors.”
