triple j Unearthed competition winner Moon Holiday, best known as the vocalist on Flume track Insane, has joined the lineup for Sydney’s annual New Year’s Day festival, Field Day.
The project of Sydneysider Alex Ward, Moon Holiday joins a lineup which features the likes of alt-J, SBTRKT, Jamie xx, Peking Duk and Danny Brown.
Ward has further established herself since that 2012 Flume collaboration. As part of the Astral People family, she dropped her Second Life EP this year, and supported the likes of Safia, Tycho, Young Magic, Cassius Select and Mansionair. She also worked with Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O on her psycho-opera Stop The Virgens.
Moon Holiday’s gorgeously brittle new single Rid U (below) sees her vocals echoing over tight electronic percussion and looped synthesizers. Her self-titled debut EP was released back in 2011.
