Flume Confirms He’ll Release A New Record In 2020 And It Could Feature Charli XCX

After a significant break from releasing music before last year, Flume is planning to follow-up his 2019 mixtape Hi This Is Flume with another record in 2020.

The news follows the release of his first new music for 2020 with ‘The Difference’ featuring US singer-songwriter, producer and graphic designer Toro y Moi.

Flume revealed the news about a forthcoming body of work in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

“Yeah, we’ll put out a record this year,” Flume confirmed. I mean, I’m just working away.

“I’m trying to do, like, a beat a day or two ideas a day. I kind of got the blinders on, head down. And yeah, so hopefully put a record out this year.”

Meanwhile, the outbreak of COVID-19 has seen Flume put the call out among his fellow musicians to collaborate remotely.

‘Who wants to corona collab? #cybersession #coronacollab #pandemicproducers #notouchy #quarantine #2020baby’ he posted to Instagram.

Dozens of musicians both locally and around the globe have answered the call.

Alison Wonderland responded with a beer emoji, Halsey said “send beatz”, Miguel said “check your email” which prompted Cub Sport to reply with “this would end me”.

Diplo, Oliver Heldens, Snakehips, Kota Banks, Hayden James, Japanese Wallpaper and Broods were among others to respond and express interest.

Most significantly, Charli XCX responded “So bored”, and Flume hit back with “i’ll send u the files”, teasing what could be one of the biggest collabs of the year if it actually happens!
