Aussie producer Flume has delivered a highly visual performance of Bag Raiders’ ‘Shooting Stars’ for Triple J’s Like A Version. For his first appearance on the weekly segment since 2016, Flume was backed by Toro y Moi and a trio of shirtless dancers.
Beginning by theatrically producing a burned CD of the track from his pocket, Flume presses play to set things in motion. Toro y Moi’s vocals float over the instrumental before being joined by an electronically-treated saxophone. As the track builds, a pair of shirtless ex-Thunder From Down Under performers emerge to do bicep curls before fitness model Said Shavershian – best known as Chestbrah – joins in to throw shapes and flex when the beat drops.

Reflecting on his covert, the Sydney producer revealed how he had received all the building blocks of the song from Bag Raiders so he could take it apart and “really get into the detail”, noting he had “redone it, re-imagined it, [and] took it to the club”.
His decision to rework the track into a higher BPM “gabber, hardstyle” version also influenced the live performance’s special guests. “To me, hardstyle and ripped dudes, it’s a perfect harmony,” he explained.
For the other half of his performance, Flume shared a rendition of ‘The Difference’. That fan favourite also features Toro y Moi and was released on Flume’s third studio album, Palaces, which topped the US Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and hit number three on the ARIA Top 50 Albums chart.
