US rockers the Foo Fighters are seeking financial reimbursement for shows that they were unable to play in November 2015 following the Paris terror attacks.
According to Blabbermouth, the band are seeking remittance from underwriters Lloyd’s of London and insurance broker Robertson Taylor who have not paid out the band for four shows that should have been covered under the Terrorism Policy that was part of the insurance they took out in advance of the tour in question.
The lawsuit states “Foo Fighters reasonably expected that the Terrorism Policy would provide them coverage for the four November 2015 performances . . . the insurers have engaged in a seemingly never-ending series of requests for increasingly irrelevant information.”
According to the BBC The Foos also say the website, www.foofighterstours2015.com, was hacked the day after the attacks and displayed an IS flag, automatic weapon with the threat, “be prepared”.
Additionally, the band believe they are entitled to payment for seven shows that they were unable to perform earlier in the year after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg in June. “After paying certain amounts owed under the Cancellation Policy for four of the canceled performances, the insurers began searching for ways to limit their payment obligations on the other three performances,” says the lawsuit.
The claim also points out that had the band has actually saved the insurance brokers significant losses due to Dave Grohl insisting that the band play out the remaining 53 scheduled shows, with Grohl situated on this ‘throne’.
