The Foo Fighters have just announced a huge US tour, but it’s not welcome news for all. Dave Grohl and co are giving the middle finger to ticket scalpers looking to gobble up tickets then jack up prices with the introduction of their ‘Beat The Bots’ ticket scheme.
Basically ‘Beat The Bots’ is an effort to stop scalper-bots from jamming up online ticket queues and purchasing large quantities of tickets in order to profit by increasing their price on resale. The Foos plan to defeat the bots by releasing pre-sale tickets that can only be purchased in person at pop-up box offices in cities that will be on the tour.
“Fans sick of Scalper-BOTS programmed to clog online queues and snatch up huge amounts of tickets to resell them will get first shot at tickets to these shows,” said the Foos in a press release.
‘Beat The Bots’ tickets are limited to either two standing or four seated tickets for most venues. Each box office has an official queue start and finish time, while all ‘Beat The Bots’ tickets will go on sale Saturday, 22nd November. Fan are advised to visit FooFighters.com for full details.
The Foos are certainly going to a big effort to fuck off scalpers, and we certainly hope they’re successful. The tour begins on the 4th of July at RFK Stadium in Washington DC and doesn’t end until 7th October at Memphis’ FedExForum.
Royal Blood will support the band from 6th July until 25th August with the exception of one show. Foo Fighters will be touring behind their latest album, Sonic Highways, out now.
When Foo Fighters tour Australia in February 2015 they will be supported by Rise Against. Full Foo Fighters 2015 Australian tour details here.
