Foo Fighters unleash inner-Bee Gees with video for disco cover

It’s come time for Foo Fighters to embrace their natural career direction: disco. Wait, what?

For Record Store Day, the band have switched things up and have paid homage to the music of the Bee Gees – unveiling their new alter egos, the Dee Gees.

Throwing themselves gleefully into disco ball goodness, Fooies are releasing a whole album of covers as the Dee Gees, releasing Hail Satin on July 17th. The record, while dedicated in part to honouring the legacy of the Gibb brothers, will also feature live recordings of the Foo Fighters’ latest recordMedicine At Midnight.

To give fans a taste of what it sounds like when the Grohl meets the Gibb, the band has released a video to accompany their version of the Bee Gees’ 1976 classic, ‘You Should Be Dancing’.

“We started recording the instrumental track, and then I thought ‘Okay, well I’m gonna go out and sing it…,'” Grohl explained in a recent chat with BBC Radio 2, about their choice of cover.

“Let me tell you, I have never, ever in my life sung like that, but it was the easiest song I have ever sung in my entire life!”
