The 411:

For over a decade Jack Carty has been one of the country’s best-kept secrets, releasing albums to critical acclaim and touring both at home and abroad. His latest single ‘Boab (Time Is A River)’ was written in the Kimberly region in WA and reflects on shared experiences over the passage of time.

“There is a Boab Tree there that gets called ‘The Prison Tree’ & people have carved their names all over it, over time,” says Jack, speaking on the origin of the song.

“I found my wife’s name carved into one of the branches & even though I knew she didn’t do it, it got me thinking about her, and distance, and how time is like a distance all its own, separating us from things that happened right where we are standing, long ago.” Check it out above.

The Review:

‘Boab’ captures Carty at his swaying, crooning best, with his vocals floating smoothly over a slice of folky yet quirky soft-rock. Channeling the storytelling tropes of some of the best in the singer/songwriter business, whilst sounding distinctly ‘Australian’, this is the perfect addition to any easy-listening playlist you might have.
