Foster The People frontman Mark Foster has confirmed to Music Feeds his band will definitely be in the country at some point in 2014, leaving the details open for interpretation. Though he did not reveal whether the band were planning a headline tour or a festival appearance, the revelation does cement the Californians as strong contenders for a place on the Splendour In The Grass 2014 lineup.
During an interview for an upcoming Music Feeds Podcast episode, when asked if the band will be showcasing their new tracks to audiences at Splendour In The Grass this year, the vocalist revealed his affection for the annual festival but wouldn’t definitively confirm if the band had a spot on the Byron Bay bill.
“We will be down there this year. I can tell you that,” said Foster. “We love Splendour, that was I think our the first festival we ever played in Australia and we all remember it very fondly. So, we’ll see what happens.” The band last played the Byron festival in 2011 in support of their hit album Torches, which included the summer staple track Pumped Up Kicks.
Foster The People’s sophomore record Supermodel is set for release in just a few days, on 14th March and to give fans a taste they’ve already premiered the catchy lead single Coming Of Age and its follow up Pseudologia Fantastica. The album was recorded with producer Paul Epworth in Morocco as well as in Los Angeles.
Mark Foster told Rolling Stone last year the new record would be a polarising one. “I wanted to make something more human and let the songs breathe and grow and turn and take left turns and not come back if they want to. So it’s a brave record,” he said.
