Ooft, I feel like we’ve been waiting a little while for this one. Channel Nine have announced that they’ll be screening Framing Britney Spears for us Aussies who are yet to watch the epic collaborative New York Times and Hulu investigation.
As TV Tonight reports, the doco will air at 9PM on Tuesday, 2nd March on Nine, so be sure to pop that one in your calendar.
Framing Britney Spears aired in the US and the UK earlier in the month. It documents Britney Spears‘ early life as a child star, and then the pressures that came with her journey to legendary stardom from young adult to adult. The documentary paints a picture of the paparazzi’s toxic impact on Spears’ life, as well as centring the restrictive conservatorship that she is currently legally bound to.
Since the documentary’s airing, Justin Timberlake, who dated Spears for a few years in the early 2000’s, has issued a public apology to Spears’ over his treatment of her, including publicly claiming that she cheated on him and boasting about their sex life.
“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right,” Timberlake said in a post he made to Instagram
“I have not been perfect in navigating all of this throughout my career. I know this apology is a first step and doesn’t absolve the past. I want to take accountability for my own missteps in all of this as well as be part of a world that uplifts and supports.”
