Frank Ocean won’t be taking Chris Brown to court over their altercation in the carpark of an LA studio last week, dropping charges against the Yeah 3X singer.NME reports that Ocean has posted a statement on his website, saying he’d prefer to have a bit of peace in his life instead of dragging the matter out further.
“As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer. I’m an artist and a modern person. I’ll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace.”
Based on the reports that have surfaced, it appears Ocean got punched by Brown during their brief altercation, which erupted over a space in the studio parking lot.
A total of six men were involved in last week’s fight, which led to Sheriff’s deputies being called out to investigate the incident. It’s apparently left Ocean “unable to play with two hands” at the Grammy’s later this month. We’ll wait and see if karma is on Ocean’s side when he goes up against Brown and other nominees for the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at the event on February 10.
