Frank Ocean Shares New Solo Music

For the first time since releasing his critically acclaimed 2012 debut Channel Orange, Frank Ocean has shared new solo music, taking to his Tumblr to unveil an unfinished version of new track reportedly titled Memrise.

Though not completed, the stripped down two-minute track features some of the same Ocean hallmarks found on Channel Orange, including Ocean’s soulful vocals, a twinkling piano and desperately yearning lyrics.

“I memorized the wayward expressions. Never look down. Never let you see me down,” sings Ocean as the track opens. Later adding the stricking lyric, “I memorized your body exposed. I could fuck you all night long from a memory alone.”

Anticipation for an Ocean sophomore record has been stirring for some time, though little is known about it. In his Tumblr post, Ocean did not specify whether the tack will be an official single, or if it will actually appear his Channel Orange follow up.

Earlier this year, Frank Ocean hinted that he was close to finishing his next album, when he posted that he may skip Coachella, so he could put the final touches on his new record. Around the same time, frequent Ocean collaborator Nabil posted a photo of the Grammy winner in the studio at work.

Ocean’s last release was the track Hero, a collaboration with Diplo and The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon as part of Converse’s Three Artists, One Song series. Listen to Memrise below.
