Franz Ferdinand are back, baby! The Scottish rockers have returned to ~take us out~ again with a brand new single and album announcement.
The double F’s first LP in five years is dubbed Always Ascending, and will be released on Friday, 9th February 2018. It’s also being billed as “nothing short of a rebirth” from the group.
Helmed by reclusive producer Philippe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys), the lads’ new LP is tipped to be “bursting with fresh ideas” and “sonic experimentation”.
“We wanted this to sound like nothing we made before,” the band say in a statement. “Forget everything you think you know about Franz Ferdinand.”
It seems they’ve shaken up old formulas to match their recent lineup shake-up, following the departure of founding rhythm guitarist Nick McCarthy.
While you wait for the album to drop, you can hear their shiny new sound on full display in the disc’s title track ‘Always Ascending’, below.
Always Ascending is the follow-up to Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, which was released in 2013.
