Frenzal Rhomb have shared a new batch of Australian dates, set to take place across October 2024. The tour is to commemorate the silver jubilee of the Sydney punk band’s breakthrough album, 1999’s A Man’s Not a Camel. The full run of dates, as well as ticketing information, can be found below.
In a press statement, the band jokingly referred to A Man’s Not a Camel as an “majestic, iconic, exalted album”. “That’s the one that delivered the super hits and taught us an important historical fact about dinosaurs,” they said. “Happy birthday, A Man’s Not a Camel. Vitruvian dromedaries forever!”
Frenzal Rhomb – Live at Livid ’99
A Man’s Not a Camel was originally released in March of 1999 locally, before being released internationally that June. It features the band’s signature song ‘Never Had So Much Fun’, as well as ‘You Are Not My Friend’ and ‘We’re Going Out Tonight’ – which came in at number 26, 34 and 64 respectively in the 1999 triple j Hottest 100. It also marked the debut appearance of longtime drummer Gordy Foreman, replacing Nat Nykyruj, who has played on every Frenzal album since.
The album peaked on the charts at number 11, which would remain the band’s highest-ever ARIA Chart position for nearly two decades. It was ultimately beaten by 2017’s Hi-Vis High Tea, which peaked at number nine. It is also one of three Frenzal Rhomb albums to be certified Gold.
Frenzal Rhomb were last seen earlier this year supporting NOFX on several dates of their final Australian tour. Prior to that, they toured extensively in support of their 2023 studio album The Cup of Pestilence.
