Frenzal Rhomb’s Jay And Lindsay Are Hosting A Variety Hour Show

Jay (Jason) Whalley and Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall are returning to their spiritual home on the Sunshine Coast in June for a one-off special show.

Although they both spent time as radio hosts on triple j (and in the case of The Doctor for being a columnist at this here site), they’re best known as part of punk band Frenzal Rhomb – a band who’ve been making infectiously hilarious rock tunes since the 90s.

The Aussie punk rockers aren’t putting on anything that resembles a conventional gig though, instead opting to bring punters a show called Jay and Lindsay’s Variety Hour to Villa Noosa. “We’re expecting a mass tradie contingent so will have the durry machine stocked and the VB ice cold”, says Christian Tryhorn of Villa Noosa AAA Backstage.

The show is being touted as a song and dance spectacular – filled with songs from the last 25 years of Frenzal Rhomb and other, much better bands.

“[The Frenzal songs] are going to be slower and acoustic but probably not as good,” MacDougal told Scenestr. “They won’t be as well played, because without the distortion you seem to hear all the mistakes better, and also Jason can never remember how to play the songs. After he writes them and teaches them to us, he completely forgets how to play them.”

Tickets are available now, with ticketing info available below.
