In what will probably be the strangest story of the day, Frightened Rabbit’s frontman Scott Hutchison’s beard is currently up for bids on eBay. What adds an M. Night Shyamalan-style twist to the tale is that Hutchison seemingly has no prior knowledge of the online follicular auction.
As Hutchison’s commented on his Instagram account, next to a picture of the removed, bagged and tagged beard, he is unsure what to make of the furry eBay item:
“Someone is selling my beard on eBay. Still figuring out how I feel about this. 99p seems cheap. Took me ages to grow.”
Giving his self-confessed underwhelming hirsuteness, Hutchinson also commented that it may be worth him putting in a bid to try and buy back his hard-earned facial hair:
“well seeing as my beard growing ability is somewhat juvenile for a 28 year old man, I’d probably stick it to my face for a day or so…..might stick a bid in”
How Hutchison’s beard found its way onto eBay is still up for speculation. Was it collected backstage after a gig, as the auction claims? Or swept up at a barber’s shop? Did it simply fall off Hutchison’s face and onto the auction block? It is a mystery among mysteries.
And just in case you’re thinking of sporting some Hutchison hair on your face, the current bid stands at £5.51 (AU$8.18).
