Sydney independent dance label Future Classic has unveiled the lineup for their new Xmas Weekender Christmas parties. The festive event will make its way to Melbourne and Sydney venues this December.
The cult label will be bringing along some noted international guests who will be playing their debut Australian shows. Acts include Lido, who made his way into the public consciousness via broke his remix of Disclosure’s Latch, and enigmatic UK producer Sophie who made heads spin with 2013’s Bipp.
Also on the lineup will be HWLS, the joint musical force of Ta-ku and Perth’s Kit Pop, who just joined the Future Classic team ahead of their debut EP’s official vinyl release on 31st October. The EP has gained serious traction since its release, catching the attention of Diplo, who invited HWLS to showcase their mixing skills this September on BBC Radio 1’s Diplo & Friends.
To welcome them to the family, FC are releasing the HWLS EP as a Radiohead-style “pay-as-you-want” digital package via Bandcamp. Also to celebrate the occasion, HWLS have dropped a texture-heavy graphic clip for EP track 004, directed by Toby & Pete. Watch it below.
Newark-based club producer Nadus, Sophie and PC Music boss A.G. Cook’s project QT and Brisbane’s UV boi will also play the FC Xmas event.
The Future Classic parties will be held at 170 Russell in Melbourne on Friday December 19th and then at The Metro Theatre in Sydney on Saturday December 20th. More names are expected to be announced soon. See the dates and lineup information below.
