Welsh noise-rockers Future Of The Left have announced their return Down Under with a run of East Coast shows, which will see them sweeping through Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this January. The band’s How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident LP is due out later this month.
Forming in 2005 from the ashes of much-loved Cardiff noise outfit McLusky — both frontman Andy “Falco” Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone having been members — Future Of The Left have been frequent visitors Down Under.
Their lineup rounded out by guitarist Jimmy Watkins and Aussie bassist Julia Ruzicka, the band naturally like to arrive smack dab in the middle of our notorious summer heat waves, with which we Aussies have a love-hate relationship.
The relationship between Future Of The Left and their fans, however, is far from love-hate. Releasing three powerful albums of acrid tunes along with a string of solid EPs, the band are just as famous for their raucous live shows where they “effortlessly mash raw power with melody and groove.”
How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident is slated for release Friday, 25th October though Prescriptions/Remote Control, the follow-up to their third LP The Plot Against Common Sense, released just last year on Xtra Mile Recordings.
How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident continues the bands tradition of noisy tunes paired with witty, insightful lyrics and ingenious song titles. Titles on the new release include How To Spot A Record Company, I Don’t Know What You Ketamine, and Things To Say To Friendly Policemen.
The album was recorded following a pledge campaign organised by the band to raise funds for recording costs. Future Of The Left hit their goal in five hours, proving fan support for this band is as strong as ever, and they plan on paying dividends on the fans’ investment on their upcoming tour.
Starting Thursday, 2nd January, the group will be playing The Corner Hotel in Melbourne, Sydney’s Annandale and Brisbane’s The Zoo, for three dynamic and electrifying East Coast shows. Readers can check below for details, tickets are on sale now through Handsome Tours.
