Gang Of Youths have cancelled a number of tour dates, following a “family matter” involving their frontman, Dave Le’aupepe.
In a statement, the band say they are “truly heartbroken” that they will be missing their “upcoming shows in August in America”.
“Unfortunately, David has had a family matter arise and we want to give him our full support during this time,” they say.
“We hope to see you all later in the year and thank everyone for their love, support and understanding during this time.”
(UPDATE: Promoters have confirmed to Music Feeds that the cancellation won’t affect the group’s upcoming Australian tour, scheduled to begin in October.)
Gang Of Youths postponed a number of US and Canadian shows back in May, after Le’aupepe began suffering from vocal issues.
Le’aupepe also had a guitar smashed by a US airline earlier this year, and Gang Of Youths’ tour van was also robbed.
The band are scheduled to perform a run of 20 shows around Australia later this year, after performing at Splendour In The Grass and on ‘MTV Unplugged Melbourne’ earlier this month.
