Gang Of Youths’ Dave Le’aupepe Auctioning ‘Go Farther In Lightness’ Guitar For Charity

ATTENTION GANG OF YOUTHS FANS: The group’s ever-so-lovable frontman, Dave Le’aupepe, is auctioning off one of the main guitars he used to record the band’s latest album Go Farther In Lightness, and the proceeds are going to charity.

Le’aupepe has put the guitar — an Emerald Green Guild Starfire IV/ST — up for auction on the online music marketplace Reverb.com, and will be passing all the proceeds from the sale onto the Refugee and Immigrant Centre for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a Texas-based nonprofit organisation which provides free and low-cost legal services to immigrant children, families and refugees.

Le’aupepe says the guitar was used to write most of the songs on Go Farther In Lightness, including ‘Fear And Trembling’, ‘Say Yes To Life’ and ‘The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows’. It was also his main touring guitar between 2016 and 2018.

“It has been part of me through the most significant period in my career and life,” Le’aupepe says.

“I hope it goes to someone who will use it and love it the way that I did. I hope it finds a loving home so that others in need can find a home in America after having to leave their own.

“I think there are a lot of musicians who want to help make a difference in the world, and hopefully some of them will be interested in taking home a piece of me, too.”

The auction for Le’aupepe’s emerald green beauty is now open, and ends at 11:59pm AEST on Wednesday, 25th July. View detailed photos of the guitar, below.
