Gang of Youths Have Updated Their Socials and Fans Are Predictably Freaking Out

We’ve known for a while now that a third album from Gang of Youths was on the way, and it looks like we’re a little closer to finding out details – or even, at long last, hearing some new music from the Aussie rock luminaries.

As GOY fansite Deepest Sighs points out, last week the band updated their cover image on Facebook and Twitter with a new press photo. The picture includes new member Tom Hobden, who replaced former guitarist Joji Malani in 2020 after the latter parted ways with the band the previous year.

The band’s profile picture across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram has also changed to a cryptic red punching bag. Furthermore, the band’s Instagram has been swiped, with all photos archived.

As you might expect, fans of the band (Gang of enth-Youths-iasts, if you will) are going wild over the subtle changes, with hundreds of comments on their official Facebook page barely containing their excitement at the prospect of new music.

Gang of Youths’ last album was 2017 sophomore LP Go Farther in Lightness. Bolstered by beloved singles like ‘Let Me Down Easy’ and ‘The Heart Is a Muscle’, it went on to receive eight ARIA nominations and win four – Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album and Producer of the Year (which the band shared with Adrian Breakspear.)

Fingers crossed these changes mean more info (and music!) will arrive sooner rather than later, but one thing’s for sure – it’s an exciting time to be a Gang of Youths fan.

UPDATE 11/06/21: Gang Of Youths’ New Single ‘The Angel of 8th Ave.’ Will Be Out Next Week
