Genesis Owusu has released ‘Get Inspired’, his second single of 2022. The new track follows July’s ‘GTFO’, which received ARIA nominations for Best Independent Release and Best Video. ‘Get Inspired’ proceeds with the genre-bending approach that made Owusu a mainstream name following his debut album, 2021’s Smiling With No Teeth.
The track is built around driving rhythms, Owusu’s trademark vocals and his hard-hitting lyrics. “Holding life, I gotta squeeze,” he raps in the second verse. “These lemons got me on my knees / They biting, they some fuckin’ fleas / I’m snappin’, I ain’t saying cheese.”

Owusu is currently in the midst of an Australian tour with Tame Impala. He gave fans a preview of the new song during the Sydney leg of the tour. The tour continues this weekend with two shows in Melbourne, before wrapping up in Adelaide and Perth next week.
‘Get Inspired’ and ‘GTFO’ are the first taste of the next phase in Owusu’s career. He had a massive year in 2021, winning Album Of The Year at the ARIA Awards and the Australian Music Prize for Smiling With No Teeth. Owusu will spend the next few months on the festival circuit, with appearances at Harvest Rock, Spilt Milk, Lost Paradise, and Falls Festival.
