It’s always bloody awesome to see musicians support each other, especially when it’s an international pioneer supporting one of our very own, and that’s exactly what’s happened between Gerard Way and Alex Lahey.
In case you missed it, Alex Lahey took to triple j‘s ‘Like A Version‘ studio for the second time last Friday, where she chose to deliver a searing, awesome cover of the My Chemical Romance classic ‘Welcome To The Black Parade.’
The cover has garnered over 150,000 views on YouTube in just over four days, and naturally it found its way to Gerard Way, who posted it on his Instagram page.
“What I appreciate about Alex and Co’s Parade cover is how much they really went for it, and with all of the additional instruments (those cymbals!) and everyone singing and just smiling and having a good time,” he wrote. “Really amazing performance.”
He also said that the cover gave him “chills” and that it made his morning. He even went as far to shoutout Lahey’s debut album, 2017’s I Love You Like A Brother, saying that he thought it was great and encouraged his 1.9 million followers to check it out too.
