Sydney’s annual Vivid LIVE festival has announced its full music lineup for 2017, and it’s pretty frickin’ special.
British singer-songwriter Laura Marling and French electronic duo Air are joining the previously announced Fleet Foxes atop the bill, while British group Goldfrapp will also play an exclusive show at Carriageworks in Redfern — their only Australian performance as part of a worldwide tour for their forthcoming album Silver Eye.
On top of that, there are a number of local acts performing special show for the occasion, including Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker), who will showcase new music across multiple nights as part of a 360-degree show called ‘Missing Link’; Hiatus Kaiyote frontwoman Nai Palm, who will make her solo debut; The Avalanches, who will perform their debut album ‘Since I Left You’ in its entirety with special guests DJ Shadow, Briggs and Sampa the Great; and Dappled Cities, who will reimagine music from their back catalogue and debut their new album ‘|||||’.
Elsewhere in the program, orchestral works by contemporary music giants Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) and Bryce Dessner (The National) will be performed as part of ‘The Nixon Tapes’, while Repressed Records will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a party at the Sydney Opera House.
Vivid LIVE will run from 26th May to 17th June. As per usual, the music program will run at the same time as some of Sydney’s most iconic venues are lit up.
