Gorillaz Festival Set Cut Short After ‘Clint Eastwood’ Rapper Falls Off Stage

Gorillaz have stopped a festival appearance mid-set after rapper Del The Funky Homosapien fell off the stage.

The group were performing at Denmark’s Rosklide Festival over the weekend, and things were heating up as halfway through the set they cut into ‘Clint Eastwood’. Del then walked onto the stage rapping the song’s iconic second verse.

Footage of the incident (below) shows Del managing to rap the first few lines, before losing his footing and falling after launching into the second line.

The song plays on for a number of seconds, but it quickly becomes apparent something is wrong when security rushes the stage. The crowd begins to murmur as Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn thanks those before him for “a beautiful, beautiful night”, and after checking on Del’s wellbeing announces the show will not continue.

Roskilde organisers released a statement confirming Del was “conscious and talking to his team” following the fall, while Del himself has also dropped a tweet informing those concerned that he’s doing well.

The self-described Rap Practitioner also made it known that he’ll be hospitalised for a period of recovery. This seems temporary, as he closes out the message promising he’ll “be back soon”.

There is no news yet whether the accident will impact Gorillaz’s current tour in support of their latest album The Now Now.
