We already knew that a big announcement from Gorillaz was swinging above our heads, but now the countdown until it falls like a ripe banana is officially ON like Donkey Kong (who’s incidentally a big Gorillaz fan, we hear).
Taking to Instagram, the band’s ‘guitarist’ Noodles shared a cheeky photo bearing the caption 近日公開, essentially Japanese for “Coming Soon”.
Earlier in the year, signs of life were omitting from the audio/visual punk rock project, however it was hard to pin down fact from speculation. At one stage, the new album from the band was “two weeks away” from being finished. Then they masterfully kept the wolves at bay with the recent Comic book series, featuring The Book Of Noodle, The Book Of Russel, and The Book Of Murdoc.
Mystery surrounds the new Gorillaz LP, which will be the successor to 2011’s The Fall. Internet sleuths managed to track down some impressive data to suggest that the band would be hitting the road in the coming year.
So, basically, we know sweet fuck all…But the news will be “coming soon”.
