Jamie Hewlett has today posted two videos to his Instagram account that appear to show himself and Gorillaz bandmate Damon Albarn in a recording studio.
In late 2015 both Hewlett and Albarn indicated that there was a new Gorillaz album in the works, with Albarn previously also suggesting that 2016 would be the year that the band would “reactivate”.
Now it would appear that the creative process is in full swing for the group, with their impending return surely imminent.
According to Billboard, that second clip shows producer and Kanye West collaborator Anthony “Twilite Tone” Khan working with singer Liam Bailey, who hinted about the collab in a tweet last month.
Speaking last year, Albarn said the Gorillaz’s first record since 2011’s The Fall was sounding “really fast”.
“It’s got quite a lot of energy. I’ve been stuck on piano, somewhere off Broadway, for years now. I want to go somewhere completely opposite of that.”
Hewlett has also continued his trend of teasing Gorillaz artwork on his Instagram page. Check out the videos and some of his newest images below.
