Two of Britain’s brightest musical minds, Damon Albarn and Robert Smith, are joining forces as the legendary frontman of The Cure is set to hop on Gorillaz‘ newest single.
The new single, the title and release date of which is yet to be revealed, was teased on Gorillaz’ social media. It’s set to be apart of the group’s Song Machine series.
The series, which has seen the band release music consistently throughout 2020 leading up to one full 10-song project, is in celebration of their 20th anniversary.
They’ve enlisted a slew of collaborators for the project thus far, including Skepta, ScHoolboy Q, Octavian, Georgia, slowthai, Slaves and Fatoumata Diawara.
In other Gorillaz news, the pioneering group are set to make their return to Australia next year as a headliner for the 2021 iteration of Splendour In The Grass, after it was cancelled earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
