New York City’s Governors Ball has just dropped its lineup announcement for the 2014 instalment of the festival and it’s a corker – apart from the previously announced Outkast, this year’s festivities will be graced by Jack White, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix and TV on the Radio. Wowzers.
If that wasn’t enough for you, there’s also a bit of Skrillex, James Blake, Disclosure, Interpol, Foster The People, Neko Case, Earl Sweatshirt, Grimes, Tyler, the Creator, Childish Gambino, Jenny Lewis, Deafheaven, Banks, The 1975, Damon Albarn and so many more great names that we might explode with jealousy.
Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas is scheduled to play a solo set as well as one with the band that made him famous, which is sure to delight fans of the NYC indie rock kings. There’s also a little bit of Aussie and Kiwi representation on the bill, with Empire Of The Sun and The Naked And Famous both appearing on the impressive lineup.
The event announced its lineup today not through Twitter or Facebook but instead chose to kick it old school, taking out a full page ad in The New York Times. Governors Ball takes place in NYC’s Randall’s Island Park between 6-8 June, which is just enough time for you to grab a ticket and start putting your pennies in a jar for airfares.
