Unlike September, it seems the Aussie run of Green Day‘s American Idiot musical might not quite be at an end.
The legendary punk trio’s acclaimed rock opera completed its debut Aussie lap in Brisbane earlier this year to rave reviews, but a new teaser from the musical’s official Facebook account has fans prophesising that other parts of the country may finally be getting a piece of the subliminal mindfuck.
The teaser video contains a highlight reel of some of the show’s best moments, soundtracked by Green Day of course, with the directive “Wake me up when September ends”, and a link to the musical’s official website, where a countdown clock is ticking down until the end of September (i.e. TOMORROW, October 1st, at 10am).
Naturally, Facebook is blowing up with predictions and pleas for the musical to come to Sydney, Melbourne and other parts of the country:
It’s important to note that the show’s head honchos employed almost the exact same hypeman tactics this time last year when they announced the show’s big Australian debut.
ICYMI: moshpit musical’s down under cast included homegrown rock legends Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon) and Chris Cheney (The Living End), so devil horns crossed they’ll be back on board if the show is indeed expanding its run to other cities.
So everybody do the propaganda, and sing along to the age of paranoia, while we keep you posted on more news about this tomorrow when the big announcement drops.
