It was reported around here last month that Brooklyn indie acolytes Grizzly Bear were in the first stages of putting together a new album, the follow up to 2009’s acclaimed Veckatimest. Now, news has emerged that bass player Chris Taylor is to release a solo album this September.
As Pitchfork reports, Taylor released a single Ghosts on his own in 2009, recording under the name of CANT, and releasing on his own label Terrible Records. CANT remains his moniker, with a first full-length album on the way called Dreams Come True. It’s out on September 12 in the US and September 13 outside the US, through Warp.
Multi-instrumentalist Taylor, who joined Grizzly Bear in 2005, teamed up with Twin Shadow‘s George Lewis Jr on the album – Taylor having produced Lewis’s own album Forget. Dreams Come True was recorded in a bedroom connected to what used to be Allaire Studios in New York State, where Grizzly Bear recorded Veckatimest.
Grizzly Bear had previously announced they would be starting work on a new album around the end of May.
