Guns N’ Roses‘ reunion tour continues to soar, taking the lead as the highest grossing tour for the year so far.
According to Pollstar, their ‘Not In This Lifetime’ tour, which rolled through Australia earlier this year, has grossed a huge USD $151.5 million this year which is around AUD $190 million. They are also the only group to sell more than one million tickets in 2017.
Their two shows at London Stadium in June were also notched up the largest individual box office gross with $17.3 million. It is estimated that they also pulled in USD $38 million (AUD $51 million) during their Australia and New Zealand tour.
U2 are following closely behind GNR with their Joshua Tree Anniversary Tour grossing USD $118 million. They’re the only two artists to gross over $100 million this year. Justin Bieber, Metallica and Depeche Mode round out the top five.
A number of acts still to tour Australia including Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd also make an appearance in the top 20 highest grossing tours of the year.
Guns N’ Roses have dates booked right up until November so it’s highly likely that they’re going to rake in even more money as the year closes out. And who knows how much more they will add to that tally if they manage to pop out a new album soon.
