Gurrumul has announced a rare acoustic Melbourne club show with less than 48 hours notice. The Aboriginal musician’s intimate performance will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 17th December, at the Corner Hotel, and will also see a special guest appearance from Victorian rapper Briggs.
Gurrumul performed for US President Barack Obama as part of G20 earlier this year. He also played encore shows with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and performed with Briggs on triple j‘s ‘Like A Version’ covers program, playing an adaptation of the Archie Roach song Took The Children Away (below), as well as Briggs’ track The Hunt.
Since then, Gurrumul has continued work on his third studio album, which is due for release in 2015.
Gurrumul’s Corner Hotel performance will be his last public appearance of 2014, and will be supported by Ross Hannaford, as well as an acoustic set from Sietta. Limited tickets are available now. Details below.
