GWAR Cover Billy Ocean’s ‘Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car’

One of the draws for the more astute Soundwave 2014 punters and one of Music Feeds‘ personal favourites, the always entertaining GWAR have been featured in a recent video by The Onion‘s A.V. Club, in which they cover 80s singer Billy Ocean‘s hit Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.

The band had previously covered 70s prog-rock band Kansas‘ classic rock radio staple Carry On Wayward Son for the video series, which GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus labeled “derivative crappy crap crap crappy crap.” Urungus was similarly derisive of the Ocean tune, expressing incredulity at the lyrics, saying “He says ‘I’ll be your non-stop lover but get it while you can’. I don’t get it.” The intergalactic ensemble also manage to splice in a section from The Who‘s Baby O’Riley towards the end.

GWAR are prepping for their journey Down Under for Soundwave 2014, surely bringing Urungus’ trusty longsword “Unt Lick” and plenty of precious bodily fluids in tow. The band were also recently the subject of a popular grass roots movement, which sought to make them part of the Half Time entertainment at the NFL SuperBowl in 2015.
