Melbourne production and instrumental duo Gypsy & The Cat have announced a string of dates across the country this September and October.
The tour will kick off following the release of their forthcoming album Virtual Islands, from which the band have already released three massive singles. Though unfortunately, this record, and the tour following it, will be their last as Gypsy & The Cat.
In sad news for Australian music. Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers announced that they’d be hanging up synths after this tour via a statement on their website. In it, they said, “We have come to a place with the band where we feel like we have achieved the things it set out to, and are incredibly proud of the catalogue of music that we’ve built along the way.”
The guys will continue to make music alone, explaining that the split has nothing to do with any animosity between them. “This is in no way a sad or bitter thing, we speak every day in fact, instead it’s more of a decision to keep growing as individuals and explore our artistic limits in different incarnations,” they said.
The tour will start out with a free all-ages show at Thredbo on Friday, 9th September before the band wrap up proceedings in early October in Brisbane. Catch dates and details below.
