Aussie post-hardcore outfit Hands Like Houses have announced a free live streamed event called ‘Live In Ya Lounge’ for next weekend in the wake of gigs and festivals around the globe being cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.
It’ll be taking place Saturday, 28th March from 8pm local time, and the band say it’ll be a “full production livestream experience.” It all sounds like a pretty dreamy excuse to park your butts on the comfiest couch and see the boys rip through a few songs from across their back catalogue. The performance will be streamed via the band’s Facebook page as well as their YouTube channel.
There’ll be options throughout the stream to donate to Aussie music charity Support Art, as well as an online merch store to help out the band along with their behind the scenes team.
The band are one of many that have announced live streamed performances over the coming weeks. Earlier today, the likes of Julia Jacklin, Angie McMahon and Stella Donnelly announced they’d be performing as part of Isol-Aid this weekend, a two-day live-streamed event via Instagram with 74 artists confirmed to be delivering sets from their loungeroom, studios, whathaveyou.
It’s one of the ways in which performers are attempting to deal with the huge losses the music industry has faced due to the necessary cancellation of live events.
“For us, an active band, live performance is our only real source of income, and it’s a huge blow to us and others losing this source,” say Hands Like Houses.
“We hope that everyone is taking the precautionary measures that the government and health organisations are suggesting and implementing. Stay safe, keep rockin.”
