Hear ‘Chippin’ In’, The New Refused Single From Upcoming Video Game Cyberpunk 2077

Hardcore veterans Refused have unveiled a new song entitled ‘Chippin’ In’ under the moniker of Samurai, a fictional band in the upcoming tech-dystopia game Cyberpunk 2077.

The new single will be performed in-game by the fictional band, but it’s one of multiple songs Refused wrote and recorded for the project.

“We’re incredibly excited to reveal the first taste of our collaboration with our new friends in [developers] CD PROJEKT RED for their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077,” said Refused in a statement.

“It was a pleasure working with them to create the songs for the band Samurai and we can’t wait for you to hear what else worked on with them.”

Cyberpunk 2077 comes to Xbox, Ps4 and PC in April next year. Taking place in a “dangerous megacity” of the future, you play a “cyber-enhanced mercenary outlaw” attempting to locate the key to immortality. You may recall Keanu Reeves’ breathtaking E3 announcement about the game, or controversy over some in-game artwork that was deemed transphobic.

In other Refused news (Refnews?), the band have been working on a new album, their first since 2015. As Consequence of Sound reports, Dennis Lyxźen has said the record will “make sense” to fans of the band’s lauded 1998 album The Shape of Punk to Come. There’s no set release date yet, but in the above statement, the band ended by saying “As for new Refused… who knows, maybe that is coming sooner than you think!”
