Ya faves DZ Deathrays have just lopped off another chunk of their forthcoming album Positive Rising: Part 2 to share with us and it’s a self-proclaimed “big fuck-off rock song”.
The Brisbane noise-punks set their guitars to stun on ‘All Or Nothing’, a spasmodic, garagey anthem which was apparently one of the hardest songs on the new record to finish, spawning six rewrites before ending up right where it began.
Lyrically, the tune pays tribute to the objects that serve as reminders of home when the band are far from it.
“It’s reminiscent of touring life and the idea that something like a guitar can bring so much joy and adventure to our lives,” vocalist & guitarist Shane Parsons explains.
The new album – the band’s fifth – will follow up 2019’s Positive Rising: Part 1.
While DZ headed to Los Angeles to record Positive Rising: Part 1, the band headed home to record its second instalment in late 2019 alongside producer Miro Mackie.
The 11-track LP also includes a collab with Ecca Vandal titled ‘Fear the Anchor’ and it’s due to reach our ears in full on Friday, 9th July.
‘All Or Nothing’ is the second cut we’ve heard from the disc, following on from previously released single ‘Fired Up’. You can take it for a spin below.
