Brisbane indie-rockers Hey Geronimo are musing on the imminent apocalypse on their synth-heavy new earworm ‘Last Days’.
Produced by the band themselves and mixed by Brendan Cox (Imogen Heap, Jadu Heart), the song was inspired by the current zeitgeist of 2021.
“’Last Days’ is about what we’re living through,” Singer-Keyboardist Pluto Jonze explains. “It feels inevitable now – we’re just partying on the deck of the Titanic. With climate change, a widening wealth gap and a mass distortion in our ability to critically think. America’s Empire (which we’re intrinsically tethered to) is imploding in slow-motion and it’s hard to look away. The Last Days of Rome are upon us.”
The band have also flagged a new album on the way, slated for release in 2022 (presuming the world hasn’t ended by then).
But for now, you can take ‘Last Days’ for a spin below.
