The last solo single that Lemmy Kilmister ever recorded has just hit the internet.
The late Motörhead legend teamed up with guitarist Chris Declercq to track the tune ‘We Are The Ones’ back in 2015, prior to his death from cancer in December of that same year.
Lem also co-wrote the song, and let’s just say hearing the Motörhead icon thrashing his bass and growling with the same cement-mixer snarl that made him famous is further proof that he was a total badass right up until the very end.
In an open letter to Lemmy (via Rolling Stone) his collaborator Declercq writes: “You opened a door no one else wanted to open for me. You allowed me to share precious moments with you as a composer, musician and friend.
“By helping me, you showed that you were the most generous, humble and honest man. I am honouring your gift every day and you are forever in my heart.”
‘We Are The Ones’ also features ex-A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese. It was co-produced by Cameron Webb and mixed at Dave Grohl’s LA Studio 606 by John Lousteau.
It arrives after scientists officially named one of the “nastiest” prehistoric crocodiles after Lemmy.
The speed metal guru has also been honoured with his own alcoholic drink and been the subject of a petition to have a new metal element named after him.
Give his final musical contribution to the world, ‘We Are The Ones’, a spin below.
