Aussie producer What So Not has remixed RÜFÜS‘ epic ten minute track Innerbloom.
While the original song is bare and melancholic, WSN’s remix is decidedly more lush, with the addition of some well-placed hip hop beats thrown in.
What So Not’s Emoh Instead first heard Innerbloom on a flight back to Australia. He told triple j, “I just knew I had to do something with it.”
After his mates heard a rough edit of the remix and tried to convince him to play it live, he conceded. “I mixed the record in the hour trip down from Sacramento to Los Angeles, played it that night and this rip went up. All these blogs picked up on it and we were like ‘OK, we’ve gotta finish this now’.”
Excitingly,What So Not has also teamed up with electropop artist JOY and Dutch producer GANZ for a new track called Lone.
What So Not is currently touring North America and Europe, while RÜFÜS are doing dates on the back of their second album Bloom, which features the song in question.
