Paul McCartney has unearthed a previously unheard version of Wings’ track Beware My Love featuring Led Zeppelin’s late, great drummer John Bonham. Sir Macca premiered the Bonham version, yesterday, during a Twitter Q&A to promote the deluxe reissue of Wings’ ’76 LP Wings at the Speed of Sound.
When exactly McCartney and Bonham got together to bash out the alternative take was not revealed during the Q&A but the new-old version will appear on the reissue’s bonus disk and clocks in at 5:35, about a minute less than the original.
Along with Wings at the Speed of Sound, a reissue of Wings’ ’75 LP Venus and Mars will be release on the same day Friday, 31st October. Beware My Love (John Bonham Version) is currently available for purchase on iTunes.
The unveiling of Beware My Love featuring Bonham wasn’t the only piece of interesting news McCartney offered up during the online Q&A. Turns out the former Beatle has gotten his twerk on with Katy Perry, thinks Kanye West is the bee’s knees, and lists Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl as one of his favourite film directors.
Wings’ Beware My Love (John Bonham Version) can be streamed here. You compare it with the original ready to go below.
