Australia’s official Eurovision 2016 combatant Dami Im has unsheathed the weapon she will use to vanquish her foes and hopefully claim glory for Australia in the world’s greatest songwriting competition.
The former X-Factor winner has unveiled Australia’s Eurovision tune, Sound Of Silence, in full, after releasing a short snippet yesterday.
As forecast, the song is a soaring pop ballad, a solid yet perhaps slightly safe choice for the Eurovision stage.
And if Im’s performance takes any cues from the song’s music video (which it no doubt will), we can expect smoke machines galore, shirtless male backup dancers busting smooth, undulating dance moves and Im herself wearing something slick and shiny with a shot of her trademark quirk.
Will it be enough to win Australia gold?
Only time will tell.
Eurovision organisers first announced Australia’s second chance at taking out the title back in November of 2015, after Guy Sebastian snagged 5th place in our debut year as an official competitor.
This year’s event is set to take place in Stockholm’s Globe Arena on 10th, 12th and 14th May.
