Zach Braff’s love affair with The Shins continues undeterred, with the indie titans teaming up once again to premiere a new track from the band in a trailer for his upcoming film Wish I Was Here.
The lofty, acoustic stylings of James Mercer and his merry men sync seamlessly with the existential yearning of Wish I Was Here. Braff, of course, featured the music of The Shins as part of previous directorial effort Garden State.
It’s difficult to tell which direction the new track is headed at this point in time, especially with Braff and co-star Kate Hudson’s insistence on talking over the top of it. If the film is anything like its predecessor, which had an incredibly popular soundtrack, this won’t be the last we’ve heard of the tune.
The crowd-funded film comes with an absolutely loaded soundtrack in accordance with Braff’s MO. Also confirmed to appear is a brand-new offering from Bon Iver as well as a collaboration between Cat Power and Chris Martin.
Wish I Was Here is released in the US on 18th July.
