Heatwave promoter Patrick Whyntie has hit out at Kid Cudi (his headline act) calling him a ‘spoiled brat’. Kid Cudi trashed the stage at the last Heatwave Festival in Melbourne after his set was cut short, then hit out at Whyntie saying:
Spread the word. No matter the circumstance, cut my set short, im breaking shit. And next time im startin a riot.
Speaking with messandnoise today Whyntie said:
The whole tour, he (Cudi) was acting like a spoiled brat; you can ask anyone and everyone who encountered him. He had everything from his substantial fee upfront to the five-star suites he required.
When asked if the Australian market could support a national hip hop festival like Heatwave, Whyntie replied:
I think if all the stars align, any genre of music can be supported. It’s always a risky business, and things need time to grow. We did go too big, too quick.
The stars definitely didn’t align for Patrick in 2012.
