Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper is copping heat this morning, after a headline on its front page called late AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young an “Ace Of Bass”.
Young, who died on the weekend at the age of 64, is featured on the front cover of The Herald Sun‘s latest paper, in an image which mistakenly suggests he played bass for Acca Dacca.
Fans were immediately Thunderstruck by the headline, and were quick to point out the gaffe on Twitter:

Strangely, The Herald Sun‘s Editorial Cartoonist Mark Knight has also shared an illustration of Young playing a regular six-string guitar, so it’s clear that at least someone at the paper knows which instrument he played…

Malcolm Young died on Saturday while surrounded by family, after suffering from dementia. Since his death, the likes of Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne and Paul Stanley have all paid tribute to the late rocker, who helped co-found AC/DC in 1973.
Foo Fighters have also covered an AC/DC song in tribute to Young, as have Guns N’ Roses.
Young’s nephew Stevie stepped in for him during AC/DC’s latest tour promoting their 2014 album Rock Or Bust, as Young wanted the band to continue touring without him.
