As the dreaded coronavirus pandemic forces us all into social isolation, thereby doing to our events calendar what Godzilla did to Tokyo, a handful of big name musicians are taking their concerts online to remind us what live music is actually like.
In addition to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard livestreaming performances from his home studio daily and Code Orange filming themselves performing their record release show inside an empty venue, some other artists to hit the digital stage during the 2020 social shutdown include P!nk, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, John Legend, Keith Urban and Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas.
You can check out some of their pre-recorded and live-streamed gigs below!
While closer to home, triple J Unearthed has triggered an incredibly wholesome COVID-19 themed initiative dubbed #Covered19, encouraging Unearthed artists to cover each others’ songs on Instagram during the outbreak.
Perth synth-rockers Death By Denim are one of the artists who’ve gotten involved so far, posting their take on Great Gable’s ‘All My Friends’, while IVEY and Fergus James have also served up sonic offerings on the ‘Gram.
Check them out below as well, and for all the latest updates you can head to our Coronavirus 2020 Feed.
